Aurora Aksnes' earliest musical memories are of discovering a piano hidden in the attic of her home, then becoming enthralled by its sounds. Jan Oystein Aksnes, her parents May Britt Aksnes and Jan Oystein Aksnes, encouraged their daughter to learn music for a love rather than a profession. She began writing songs of her own. In addition to Bjork as well, she mentions Leonard Cohen as an influence. To counter her mother's suggestions that she shouldn't be trying to be famous through her songwriting, but instead realize the importance of themselves and the impact they have on society. She started playing piano when she was only six and started writing songs at the age of nine. This was not known to her family until she reached the age of fourteen. It was never a dream to turn into Aurora. She claims that she just likes to write songs. For her music, is the best method of expressing anything.
